III Cycle Seminars on the challenges of aging
An interdisciplinary look at old age
The professors and researchers of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), Dr. Salvador Macip, Dr. Marco Inzitari, Dr. Mireia Fernández-Ardrèvol and Dr. Daniel López Gómez, organize the III serie of seminars on Healthy Aging to share ideas on the needs, challenges and opportunities that arise in aging societies with each new development. This is a relevant and priority assumption on a global scale that requires an innovative approach between professionals from different areas of knowledge.
Every day we know more about the multifactorial determinants of a more or less healthy and full aging. Aging is a complex phenomenon with multiple dimensions that cannot be understood from a single discipline. Aging is a biological and psychological process that is simultaneously determined by the socio-economic and cultural context in which we live.
A cross-sectionalapproach is necessary that includes biological and psychological processes to the social, cultural and technological conditions of the environments in which we live. This interdisciplinary approach is fundamental to tackling the challenges and opportunities of aging societies.
This series of seminars will bring together experts in aging from various fields to discuss the current challenges in this field and present an updated view of the state of the matter from different angles. The main objective is to generate a debate that allows defining new strategies around aging. Side views, in many cases potentially complementary, will increase the richness of the vision and the probability of generating "meaningful collisions" to arrive at innovative ideas.
